The Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros claiming the championship in the 2017 season.

Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, guiding the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. Next up are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, the nation," said Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" after his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we finished on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

The Blue Jays won the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
