The British player made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slams this year.

Britain's Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 because of a medical condition that has affected her over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the deciding set versus Zhu due to the lower back problem that has affected her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved 28 matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She worked with Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
