Recent Particulars Come to Light Regarding the Finding of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely deaths of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.
A Discovery
According to a report citing a confidential source, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment initially became concerned after failing to get inside the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
After gaining access to the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently in custody without bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
The source also disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to accounts of alleged "unstable" behavior by Nick at a gathering thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the family home. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
