Manchester United Set to Sign Germany Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from Bayern Munich.

A Major Signing for United

The forward, with half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a consistent goal-getter for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and found the net 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the Women’s Super League team.

Departure from Munich has been anticipated since she was seen holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s fans following a win over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

Reports in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top strikers. Per reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.

Reliable Goalscoring to Boost the Attack

The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a significant boost to the team's attacking options. She has been highly consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.

  • Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
  • She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Building Steam at Carrington

Securing the German international coincides with a period when the club seem to be building momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the mid-season window has brought additional activity:

  1. The signing of Sweden right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.

Regarding the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure commented: “Miyazawa is now a critical component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”

Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the top European competition.”
